Kraken Review for PEPE Traders

PPBy PepePrime TeamUpdated September 7, 2026Facts verified against exchange APIs
Short answer

Kraken is the most widely available exchange we cover, and the only one offering PEPE in five fiat currencies — USD, EUR, GBP, AUD and CAD. It is also the only genuinely usable option in Canada, and one of the few authorised in the US, UK and Australia alike.

You pay for that reach: at 0.16% maker / 0.26% taker its fees are more than double OKX’s, and its PEPE book is about a fifth as deep.

Property Kraken
Founded 2011
Spot fees (maker / taker) 0.16% / 0.26%
PEPE pairs (API-verified) USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD
24h PEPE spot volume $1.88M
EU (MiCA licence) Ireland
United Kingdom FCA-registered, plus EMI licence for GBP
Australia AUSTRAC-registered (Bit Trade Pty Ltd)
Canada Registered Restricted Dealer (OSC/CSA)
United States Yes

Fees from the exchange’s published base-tier schedule. Pairs and volume read from its public API on 7 September 2026. Regulatory status checked against public registers; “not verified” means we could not confirm an authorisation, not that none exists.

The fiat advantage nobody else has

This is the reason Kraken appears in every one of our country guides. Checked against its API, Kraken lists PEPE against
USD, EUR, GBP, AUD and CAD. Every other exchange we cover offers at most two fiat pairs, and most offer
none at all.

The practical effect: a UK, Australian or Canadian buyer can deposit their own currency by bank transfer, buy PEPE in one
step, and withdraw back to their bank the same way. Elsewhere they would convert to USD or a stablecoin first and pay a
spread each direction — which on a modest purchase easily exceeds Kraken’s higher trading fee.

Fees in practice

Kraken Pro charges 0.16% maker and 0.26% taker at the base tier, so a $1,000 market order costs $2.60
against $1.00 on OKX. If you already hold stablecoins on an exchange, that gap is simply worse value. If you are starting
from a GBP, AUD or CAD bank account, the single-hop route usually wins anyway. Run your own numbers in the
fee calculator.

PEPE liquidity: the honest weakness

Kraken handled about $1.88M of PEPE spot volume when we measured — adequate for retail orders, but
roughly a fifth of OKX’s depth. For a few hundred or a few thousand dollars this will not be noticeable. If you are
moving a position large enough to matter against a two-million-dollar daily market, execute on a deeper venue and transfer,
or split the order.

Regulatory reach

Kraken is the most broadly authorised exchange in our comparison: a MiCA licence via Ireland for the
EU/EEA, FCA registration plus an Electronic Money Institution licence in the UK for GBP banking,
AUSTRAC registration in Australia through Bit Trade Pty Ltd, a Restricted Dealer registration
with the OSC and CSA in Canada, and US availability. It has also operated continuously since 2011, which is the longest
track record of anything we cover.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths Weaknesses
  • PEPE in five fiat currencies — USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD
  • Authorised in the EU, UK, Australia, Canada and the US
  • Operating since 2011 — the longest track record here
  • UK EMI licence means proper GBP banking rails
  • Effectively the only PEPE route for Canadians
  • 0.26% taker — more than double OKX
  • PEPE liquidity about a fifth of OKX’s
  • No PEPE perpetual futures
  • Pro interface is a step up from a simple app
  • Higher cost is hard to justify if you already hold stablecoins

Who should look elsewhere

If you already hold USDT and simply want the cheapest, deepest PEPE market, OKX is better on both counts.
If you want PEPE derivatives, Bybit or OKX offer perpetuals and Kraken does not. And if you are chasing the
absolute lowest fee and are not in the EU or US, MEXC undercuts everyone at 0.05% — on a much thinner
book and with no MiCA licence.

Frequently asked questions

Is Kraken good for buying PEPE?

It is the most widely available option and the only exchange offering PEPE in five fiat currencies – USD, EUR, GBP, AUD and CAD. That makes it the natural choice for UK, Australian and Canadian buyers. The trade-off is 0.26% taker fees, more than double OKX, and about a fifth of OKX’s PEPE liquidity.

Does Kraken support PEPE in GBP?

Yes, and it is the only exchange we found that does. Checked against Kraken’s API on 7 September 2026, it lists PEPE against GBP, AUD and CAD as well as USD and EUR. Kraken also holds a UK Electronic Money Institution licence for sterling payments.

Is Kraken available in Canada?

Yes. Kraken is registered as a Restricted Dealer with the Ontario Securities Commission and the CSA, and offers the only direct PEPE/CAD pair we found. With OKX and Bybit both withdrawn from Canada, it is effectively the practical option there.

Are Kraken’s PEPE fees high?

Relatively, yes: 0.16% maker and 0.26% taker at the base tier, so $2.60 on a $1,000 market order against $1.00 on OKX. But if you are funding from a GBP, AUD or CAD bank account, avoiding a currency conversion usually saves more than the fee difference costs.
